Small Church Pastor
Coaching, Consulting, and Resources for Pastors of Smaller Churches.
My name is Dave Jacobs and I specialize in small churches. With almost 30
years experience in pastoring small churches, I’ve done it all and seen it all. I’ve
planted churches, merged churches, and closed churches. I’ve run fund raising
campaigns in a small church, held services in community centers, high
schools, Seventh Day Adventist churches, and even had my own building. I’ve
had great ideas, poor ideas, and stupid ideas. In fact, I’ve probably learned
more from my mistakes than from my successes. I understand the small
church. But even better, I understand the small church pastor. I’ve survived the
ups and downs of pastoring in the small church. I know the advantages and
disadvantages of working in a small church, and in addition to this, I like

pastors of small churches. I know what it is like for you. I understand.
At Small Church Pastor you won’t find ways to grow your small church, but you will find ways to grow
you! You see, it’s not about church growth, it’s about your growth! I don’t think you need to be fixed. I
don’t assume you’re doing something wrong and that’s why your church is small. I’m not against
church growth but I am against the ways in which our Christian culture has made pastors of smaller
churches feel insignificant and unimportant. I am against the lack of encouragement and practical
resources available to small church pastors. Small Church Pastor was created for you! Browse
around my site and then drop me a line. I’d love to hear from you.
Your friend, Dave
Welcome...
“I have known Dave Jacobs since his high school days in San
Jose. You will find him dedicated, a man of integrity, and a
treasured mentor in ministry. He is not out to get rich or build a
name for himself,
he just loves the Lord and wants to help others with a kindred
spirit. I can recommend him without reservation!”
-Bryce Jessup, President, William Jessup University
"Dave is one of the most resourceful team leaders we have on
the regional team for church planting in the Vineyard. He
produces workshops, seminars, and personal coaching in
spiritual formation, marriage enrichment, and specific church
growth issues. If you work with Dave, you get a holistic coach
with detailed experience."
-Randy Knutson, Western Regional Director of Church Planting, The
Vineyard.
Kind words...
"Dave's pastoral experience is rooted in leading "small
churches." The engine that drives him is an ever
deepening intimacy in Jesus Christ and partnering with
other leaders who live and lead toward that same end
and the fruit that comes from abiding in Him. Dave has
the experience, expertise, character and calling to partner
with pastors of small churches."

"I'm not about growing your
church, I'm about growing

Having interacted with hundreds of pastors in North America
and around the world I have observed that most of those in the
ministry are too busy. There is simply no time for the “wide
margin of quiet leisure” that Peterson speaks of. Because of
this many pastors feel tired, stressed, and spiritually dry.
The More Leisure, Less Work, Better Pastoring Workbook is
a program designed to help you identify what you should be
giving your time to versus what you are giving your time to. This
simple five step process will help you reduce your
commitments and increase your effectiveness. It’s actually
possible to be a better pastor in less time. Cutting the fat from
your work week will free up your time and create a wide margin
of quiet leisure for you to invest in the care of your soul and the
care of your family.
Have you ever wondered if you’re doing what you should be doing with your time? Do you feel
like you work too much and accomplish so little? Do you wish you had more time for family
leisure, and soul-care? Do you struggle with prioritizing, procrastination, organization, follow up,
and keeping on top of your commitments? If so, then my More Leisure, Less Work, Better
Pastoring Workbook could possibly change your life, and your church.
